the moon is drooling and faithful, and i put the song that talks about the newness of it all on repeat. giggling a little too loudly on the phone, i receive complaints but my mind is somewhere in new mexico.

sometimes, i wish for a hurricane so we can play board games by candlelight, drinking blackberry tea. we could talk about the time we picked lettuce and strawberries in virginia, or where we think we'd be sleeping in a week.

political meetings and volunteering to make sure change comes. maybe if more people jumped in october leaves, they wouldn't question evolving so much.

we are creek jumpers and 2am donut lovers and and there is no passive voice, but rather happy silence. future tenses don't have to be ominous when you stop holding your breath.
